[ATTEMPT ANALYTICS] What is Drive By?

In the Attempt Analytics report, there is a column called Suspicious Drive By Attempt Flag. Through this column, Foxtrot Systems alerts the supervisor if Drive By behavior is suspected or not. If suspicious, the report will display this column as TRUE. This way, the supervisor can better investigate the driver's behavior.

What is Drive By?

Drive By is defined as the sequence of events in which a driver performs the service on a customer outside the sequence suggested by Foxtrot Systems, does not record the visit in the application, and later returns to that location only to make the click on the customer location. That way, he manages to increase the following indicators:

This is a behavior that should be AVOIDED (Warning icon ), as it can impact:

  • Service level: Estimated time of arrival (ETA) accuracy for customers

  • Route productivity: Increase of distance traveled

  • Foxtrot Systems' learning capabilities: Learning about the best time to visit a customer and the time required per visit is inconsistent with reality, thus decreasing the speed and effectiveness of Foxtrot Systems' machine learning mechanism.

To make it clearer, let's take a look at a practical example

  1. Let's say you downloaded a report and found that there was a suspected Drive By in one of the visits. To investigate, locate the part of the route that shows the suspicious visit, as shown in the GIF below.

  2. At a certain point in this route, the driver is instructed to visit these customers in the following sequence: ADRIANO DA SILVA, JOSENILDO JORGE, and LOJA AGAPE VARIEDADE.

  3. After visiting ADRIANO DA SILVA, the driver does not follow the suggested sequence. Instead of going to JOSENILDO JORGE next, the driver proceeds to LOJA AGAPE VARIEDADE.

  4. Notice that the driver remains stopped at this customer for a few minutes, which suggests that the visit may be taking place, such as delivering or collecting products.

  5. However, no click is made, and the driver returns to JOSENILDO JORGE. The driver completes the visit there and clicks on that customer.

  6. The driver then goes back to LOJA AGAPE VARIEDADE and only then clicks on the location.

With this behavior, the driver somehow ends up masquerading as the real events of the route. In fact, he first visited the client LOJA AGAPE VARIEDADE, and not the client JOSENILDO JORGE. Making the click afterward, he scores on the Sequence Adherence indicator, which is not consistent with what actually happened.

So, whoever is analyzing the route believes that the sequence was followed, but in fact, it was not.
