Standard BI Reports

This page describes the standard MRM BI report, its sections, and the KPIs available in each tab.


Description

The standard MRM BI report consists of four main sections:

  • Filters (1)

  • Planning (Graphs) (2)

  • Execution (Graphs) (3)

  • Driver/Route Compliance (4)


Filters

The filters section, located on the left-hand side of the report, allows users to choose which data is displayed through dropdown menus for specific metrics. If no filter is selected, all data in the database is shown. Selections in the filters section are reflected in all visuals in the report. The filters section is static — always displayed on the left-hand side — and selections are maintained.

Date Range: Filters data to be analyzed within the date range selected. Enter dates by double-clicking on the date box. If dates are selected this way, the whole date must be selected (day, month, and year).

Source Name: Database name from where Descartes Route Planner™ / On Demand data is extracted.

AppOrgName: Company identifier.

OrgUnitName: Organizational unit name.

BusinessOrgUnitName: Organizational Unit (Schedule in Descartes Route Planner, FK_tblLocation in Descartes Route Planner On-demand, etc.).

Driver Key: Database identifier of the driver.

Driver Name: Driver's first and last name.

Resource Key: Database identifier of the resource.

Total Number of Used Routes: Number of used routes, based on number of jobs, in the database.

Selected Used Routes: Number of used routes included with selected filtering.


Planning (Graphs) Tab

This section consists of KPIs that measure performance at the planning level. The analysis is subdivided into route, jobs, and geocode information sections.


Route

This tab represents the utilization of routes based on number of jobs, resource capacity (Measure 1), and time. It also contains information for cost, number of jobs, and distance. It contains the following nine KPIs:


  1. Routes Utilization Based on Number of Jobs


    Displays the number of empty routes (routes with no stops assigned) versus the used routes. Hovering the mouse cursor over the chart shows a tooltip with information for all sections containing data.

  2. Routes Utilization Based on Capacity Pickup


    Compares the total planned unused pickup capacity versus the planned used pickup capacity.

  3. Routes Utilization Based on Capacity Dropoff


    Compares the total planned unused dropoff capacity versus the planned used dropoff capacity.

  4. Routes Utilization Based on Time


    Compares the total planned unused time versus the planned used time.

  5. Available vs Planned Capacity Pickup by Route


    Compares the planned pickup capacity, the available pickup capacity, and the difference between the two for each individual route.

  6. Available vs Planned Capacity Dropoff by Route


    Compares the planned dropoff capacity, the available dropoff capacity, and the difference between the two for each individual route.

  7. Available vs Planned Time by Route (Hr)


    Compares the planned time in hours, the available time, and the difference between the two for each individual route.

  8. Profile Cost


    Shows the profile cost of each individual route.

  9. Planned Distance per Route and Average Distance per Job


    Compares the planned distance per route and average distance per job on each route. Distances are in miles.


Jobs

This tab represents metrics for measuring efficiency in job planning and possible warnings or violations. It contains the following four KPIs:


  1. Jobs Assignment


    Shows how many unassigned jobs exist and what percentage of the total jobs this represents.

  2. Jobs Location Type


    Shows how many jobs and what percentage are in each of the following location types:

    • Customer

    • Depot

    • Lunch

    • Break

    • Rest

    • Fuel

Note: Not all location types are defined in all the products this report serves.


  1. Jobs Type


    Shows how many jobs are in each of the following states:

    • Initial

    • Delivery

    • Delivery (Complex)

    • Pickup

    • Pickup (Complex)

    • Final

    • Recharge

    • Locationless

  2. Alerts % (Jobs)


    Represents the number of jobs that occur under a given alert (warnings and violations). Possible alerts:

    • CapacityExceededViolationDelivery

    • CommodityViolationPickup

    • JobLateViolationFinal

    • JobEarlyViolation

    • LocationCapacityExceededViolation

    • NearWindowCloseWarning

    • RelatedPreviousJobViolation

Geocode Information

This tab represents metrics related to geocode information. It contains the following three KPIs:

  1. Geo Score


    Shows how many jobs are associated with a given Geo Score.

  2. Geo Source


    Shows how many jobs are associated with a given Geo Source.

  3. Geo Flags


    Shows how many jobs are associated with a given Geo Flag.


Execution (Graphs)

This section consists of KPIs that measure performance at the execution level. The analysis is subdivided into route, jobs, and planned versus actuals sections.


Route

This tab represents information for the executed routes, including route statuses and warnings or violations at the route level. It contains the following three KPIs:

  1. Last Reported Status



    Displays how many routes reported one of the following statuses at their last job:

    • Arrived

    • Completed

    • Exception

    • Missing

    • No Data

    • Other

    • Pending

  2. Publish Routes



    Displays how many routes have one of the following publishing statuses:

    • Changed

    • Created

    • No data

    • Published

  3. Alerts % (Route)



    Represents the number of routes that contain an alert (warnings and violations). Possible alerts:

    • CapacityExceededViolationDelivery

    • CommodityViolationPickup

    • JobLateViolationFinal

    • JobEarlyViolation

    • LocationCapacityExceededViolation

    • NearWindowCloseWarning

    • RelatedPreviousJobViolation

    • TooManyStopsViolation

Jobs

This tab displays metrics on what happened at the job level after routes were executed, and the warnings or violations that occurred. It contains the following four KPIs:

  1. Stop Status



    Displays how many jobs are in one of the following states after routes were executed:

    • Arrived

    • Completed

    • Exception

    • Missed

    • No Data

    • Other

    • Pending

  2. Alerts % (Jobs)



    Represents the number of jobs that occur under a given alert. Uses the same alert types listed above under Planning > Jobs.


Planned vs Actual

This tab represents planned versus actual information for the executed routes. The following comparisons are provided, each containing three KPIs (data displayed by driver, by route, and total summation):

  • Number of Jobs

  • Number of Stops

  • Distance

  • Measure 1 Dropoff

  • Measure 1 Pickup

  • Time Driven

  • Service Time

  • Parking Time


Drivers/Route Compliance

This section consists of information on scores for route compliance, and driver behavior related to Descartes Telematics™ events and times.


Routing Score

This tab represents how many routes deviated from the planned metric. The percentage of deviation is calculated using 100*(Planned[Metric]-Actual[Metric])/(Planned[Metric]). The information is displayed:

  • In a histogram chart showing the distribution of a given metric from its planned value.

  • In a pie chart showing the percentage of routes deviated for different class intervals.


Class intervals used:

  • < -40% — Bad

  • -40% to -20%

  • -20% to -10%

  • -10% to -5%

  • -5% to -1%

  • -1% to 1% — Best

  • 1% to 5%

  • 5% to 10%

  • 10% to 20%

  • 20% to 40%

  • >40% — Bad


Negative numbers mean planned values were smaller than actual. For example:

  • For time: negative numbers mean it took more time than planned.

  • For distance: negative numbers mean the driver drove longer distances than planned.


The optimum numbers are those closest to zero (the planned metric).

Metrics included:

  • Number of Jobs (no negative intervals for this metric)

  • Service Time

  • Driving Time

  • Distance

  • Late Start

  • Late End


Event Score

The data in this tab is from Descartes Telematics, providing a summary of the number of events per driver. Scoring for drivers is given for the following events:

  • Total

  • Speeding

  • Extreme Speeding

  • Idling

  • Extreme Idling

  • Acceleration

  • Extreme Acceleration

  • Braking

  • Extreme Braking

  • Cornering

  • Extreme Cornering


A pie chart for each event displays the number of drivers that performed within each of the following class intervals:

  • 0% to 10%

  • 10% to 20%

  • 20% to 30%

  • 30% to 40%

  • 40% to 50%

  • 50% to 60%

  • 60% to 70%

  • 70% to 80%

  • 80% to 90%

  • 90% to 100%


Telematics Date Filter: Data in this area is retrieved from a different database (Telematics), so its own date filter is required.


Time Score

The data in this tab is from Descartes Telematics, providing a summary of time spent (in hours) for each time activity per driver. The time activities are:

  • Total Time

  • Driving Time

  • Idling Time

  • Parked Time

  • Tunnel Time

  • Other Time
